Breathing our Diaspora

Célia Faussart of Les Nubians

Breathe in, breathe out… A respiration is a back and forth between being inspired…
Inhale. And inspire others… Exhale.

Blue Nefertiti aka Célia Faussart of Les Nubians proposes a journey into her creative
process with live music and conversation at an intimate event.

She is a French & Cameroonian renowned songwriter, recording and performing artist, educator and entrepreneur.
Born in Paris, raised in Chad and moving back to France during her teenage years, she jump-started her nomadic life as an “Artivist”.

With her sister Hélène, she began her music career in their band, Les Nubians, where they started singing acapella, retracing songs of the Great Black Music
Repertoire, progressively adding their original compositions until they develop their style: AFROPEAN SOUL.
Rooted in Afro-positivity, history, spirituality and women empowerment, their 1st album,
“Princesses Nubiennes”, entered #100 of the Billboard 200, a first for an album mostly in French..
It also was one of the first of a new musical genre: Neo Soul.

The anthem “Makeda”, paying homage to the Queen of Sheba and Black History, blessed and trailblazed their path to multiple accolades and recognitions throughout
their career (Lady of Soul Train Award and African Diaspora Awards winner, Grammy and NAACP Image Awards Nominations…).
Célia started developing their Les Nubians Style, bringing an original identity and an Afrocentric approach to fashion, participating in creating new aesthetics embraced by the Afropunk generation and the AfroFuturistic movement.

Pan-African to the core, she continues exploring the African Diaspora, proposing new paradigms and creations such as Paris@Night or Le Cabaret Noir under her solo alias Blue Nefertiti
